Significance of Lakshmi Pujan
Lakshmi Pujan is performed on the Amavasya night of Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi represents prosperity, fortune and abundance, and families traditionally clean and decorate their homes before the Puja.
Homes, shops and offices are illuminated with diyas and decorated with rangoli and flowers. Devotees offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha and seek blessings for prosperity, success, happiness and peace in the coming year.

Lakshmi Puja Samagri
Before beginning the Puja, keep the essential Puja items ready. Commonly used items include an idol or picture of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, a clean red or yellow cloth, kalash, water, mango leaves, coconut, rice, kumkum, turmeric, sandalwood, flowers, garlands, betel leaves, betel nuts, fruits, sweets, coins, incense sticks, camphor, cotton wicks, ghee or oil and diyas.

Lakshmi Puja Vidhi 2026
1. Clean and decorate the home:
Clean your home and Puja area thoroughly. Decorate the entrance with rangoli, flowers and diyas to create a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
2. Prepare the Puja place:
Place a clean red or yellow cloth on the Puja platform. Install the idols or pictures of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha respectfully.
3. Establish the Kalash:
Fill a Kalash with clean water, place leaves around its opening and position a coconut on top. Decorate it with kumkum and other traditional Puja items.
4. Begin with Lord Ganesha Puja:
Offer flowers, kumkum, sweets and prayers to Lord Ganesha first. Seek his blessings for wisdom, prosperity and the removal of obstacles.
5. Worship Goddess Lakshmi:
Offer Goddess Lakshmi flowers, kumkum, rice, fruits, sweets and other offerings. Light diyas and incense and pray for prosperity, happiness and peace.
6. Chant Lakshmi Mantra:
While worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, devotees may chant:
“Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah”
Chant the mantra with devotion while praying for the well-being and prosperity of your family.
7. Offer sweets and Prasad:
Offer sweets, fruits and other prepared food as Bhog to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
8. Perform Lakshmi Aarti:
Conclude the main worship by performing Lakshmi Aarti with the entire family. Light the Aarti diya and offer your prayers with devotion.
9. Light diyas around the home:
After the Puja, place diyas at the entrance, windows, balcony and other suitable areas of your home. The glowing lamps symbolize light, hope and positivity.
10. Distribute Prasad:
